Play-off place secure

That’s about all that can be said for yesterday’s performance – but that is not to be sniffed at!

Making the play offs means we have finished in the top six teams in the Championship – which is not bad. But somehow it feels a little bit of a disappointment after that momentous 8 game winning streak. But then in the earlier stages of that run (13 games unbeaten) – I could not believe it was happening as previous to that we had been drifting along without any real drive. The last three games a draw followed by a loss followed by a draw – felt more like the first 29 games of the season.

At the beginning of the 13 game run we were in twelfth, and prior to that the highest we had been in the season was 6th. So by all accounts the team’s performance over the last quarter of the season has been fantastic. This dip in performance (relatively) over the last three games – only makes me slightly concerned that the team will not be able to pick themselves up again for the play off games. Peter and David yesterday on Reading 107 were saying the team seamed mentally tired. Not sure what they can do about that between now and next week. But Brain must be the man to do it. Look what he has achieved so far!
